" Willowfrost Hippy Chick
Some of you may remember me talking on FB about Hippy Chick, my Bengal girl, who developed pyo late in pregnancy but still had two kittens alive who are doing well and now four weeks old. Hippy Chick made a fantastic recovery from what turned out to be a huge operation.
Although it was a heartbreaking decision for me to make I rehomed little Hippy Chick just a few weeks ago to a lovely family as I felt it best for her to go into a loving home where she received all the attention she deserved. She quickly won a big place in all their hearts with her cheeky and loving nature and I received daily updates on what she'd been up to and how much they loved her. I've missed her every day that she's been gone.
I received a telephone call this lunchtime telling me that my wonderful girl was dead. She had got her collar caught on a door handle and hung herself.
I am totally devastated. She was just over a year old and such a beautiful, loving girl. If I ever breed a cat as sweet as her again I will be very, very lucky. I will always remember her last show when she was finalled by Kay DeVilbiss (and Phillipa training) when they said what a lovely, sweet, quiet nature she had - and she then proceeded to scream at every other cat in the ring at the time and generally be a real little minx!
Please let this tragic accident be a reminder to us all to ensure all new cats owners know the dangers of cat collars, even the "safety" collars that release if the cat becomes stuck are not always 100% safe.
